One of the most important considerations for the temporal brow lift is signs of aging between the brows. The temporal brow lift deals with the outer part of the brow near the temples rather than the area between the eyebrows, or the glabella. If you don’t have heaviness between the brows, then the temporal brow lift is a great option. If you do have furrows or deep lines between the brows, then an endoscopic brow lift may be a better option. The mini brow lift is easily combined with other facial rejuvenation options like the upper or lower blepharoplasty or the facelift, as well as non-surgical options like Botox. What Happens During a Temporal Brow Lift?


The temporal brow lift doesn’t require general anesthesia – in fact, you can be comfortably awake depending on the surgical plan you create with the help of Dr. Gilpin. To begin, Dr. Gilpin will create tiny entry points within the hairline near the temples. Through these incisions, Dr. Gilpin can lift the outer brows using a specialized endoscope. Once complete, the incisions are closed and you can return home.

Where Will My Procedure Be Performed?

Dr. Gilpin’s procedures are typically performed at the Cool Springs Surgery Center, which is a fully accredited, state-of-the-art surgical center conveniently located in Nashville. However, Dr. Gilpin can also perform blepharoplasty as an in-office procedure, in most cases.

Will I Be Able to Go Home After My Blepharoplasty Is Complete?

Yes. This procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis. However, you may still be under the effects of anesthesia, so it’s essential to arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home afterward. Many patients also find it helpful to have a friend, family member, or caregiver help them out at home for a day or two after surgery. While you’ll likely be able to handle your daily tasks, having assistance at home will allow you to maximize your recovery time and get the rest your body needs to heal.

Does This Procedure Leave Noticeable Scars?

Dr. Gilpin makes the incisions in areas that are naturally hidden, like the creases of your eyelid. The eyelid skin heals well, so incisions are almost undetectable once fully recovered.

What is Recovery Like for Blepharoplasty?

Dr. Gilpin’s meticulous surgical technique results in less bruising and swelling after blepharoplasty. Most patients only experience minimal pain and discomfort during their recovery, and many can resume work and normal activities about one week after the procedure.nnSlight swelling and bruising may persist for up to a week or two, but cold compresses help reduce these side effects. Prescription pain medication can usually alleviate discomfort. During your recovery, it’s important to be gentle when washing your face; Dr. Gilpin will provide you with instructions on how to properly care for your incisions. If you have any questions regarding your recovery, Dr. Gilpin and his staff are happy to address any concerns.nnWhile you might feel fine within a week, you should also avoid strenuous exercise until Dr. Gilpin clears you for rigorous physical activity at your follow-up appointments. His typical follow-up schedule includes an interview the day after your eyelid surgery, then four days, one week, two weeks, six months, and one year.

When Will the Final Results be Visible?

The results of your blepharoplasty appear gradually at first. As swelling subsides, you will notice a smooth, better-defined eyelid and a more alert and rejuvenated appearance. Within two weeks, most of the bruising and swelling should disappear.nnIt’s common for patients to feel anxious during this period, but keep in mind that your swelling is just the body’s natural response to surgery. Once your body takes the time it needs to heal, you’ll soon be able to enjoy your newly refreshed look.

How Long Will the Results Last?

Although you can’t permanently stop the aging process, the results from your eyelid surgery will be long-lasting, especially when you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
