How Do I Know When I’m Ready for Submental Liposuction?

Chin liposuction is the most permanent and effective solution for a double chin. Good candidates for submental liposuction typically identify with the following:

  • Your chin makes you look heavier than you are
  • You still have a double chin no matter how much weight you lose
  • You try to avoid taking pictures from certain angles
  • You feel your profile would be enhanced by getting rid of fat

To benefit the most from submental liposuction, you should have good skin elasticity (since liposuction does not remove stretched or sagging skin). Dr. Gilpin will assess your chin and determine the best way to enhance your facial profile. Chin liposuction is commonly combined with other facial contouring options like MyEllevate or the neck lift, as well as other plastic surgery options like rhinoplasty to further enhance the overall shape of the profile.

  • Stubborn fat under the chin
  • Poor jawline definition
  • The appearance of excess weight

  • Minimally invasive
  • Permanent results
  • Tiny incisions

Investing in your confidence is a big step, and your choice of facial plastic surgeon should reflect it. We offer a premier, luxury environment where you can focus on yourself.

With the help of our professional and knowledgeable team, you can begin your journey toward a more confident you. We’ll take every step to ensure you feel comfortable, pampered, and acknowledged. Begin your refined and cultivated experience here at Gilpin Facial Plastics & Aesthetics.

What Happens During Submental Liposuction?

Chin liposuction can be performed using a local anesthetic so that you’re comfortably awake throughout the procedure. However, it may also be performed using other types of anesthesia based on whether you combine it with other procedures. To begin your procedure at our accredited private surgical suite, Dr. Gilpin will create tiny incisions under the chin through which a cannula and surgical suction can be inserted. These tools allow Dr. Gilpin to break up the underlying fat and remove it, sculpting your new results. Once the procedure is complete, you can return home.

Submental Liposuction Results and Recovery

You can expect to have swelling, bruising, and soreness under your chin afterward. You should plan to avoid extensive activities for the first two to three weeks. Depending on your job, you may be able to return to work within one week. It’s important to take steps to manage swelling like keeping your head elevated, taking prescribed medications, and wearing a chin strap. Our experienced team will give you detailed aftercare instructions to help you get the most from your results. Additionally, you’ll follow up with Dr. Gilpin to ensure your results progress as planned.

Typically, you’ll begin to notice your results emerging within a few weeks as the swelling goes down. It can take several weeks for swelling to disappear completely, but liposuction produces long-term results as long as you maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
