WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?
Microneedling is a quick and easy skincare treatment that uses 14 accupuncture-needles to create tiny channels in the skin with a specialized handpiece. These channels trigger the skin’s natural healing processes where collagen is created without damaging the surrounding cells. This process is sometimes called collagen induction therapy (CIT). Although many microneedling procedures use a tool called a dermaroller, SkinPen is a specialized handpiece that “stamps” the skin for greater control and targeted treatment.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MICRONEEDLING?
Although the methods might seem strange, microneedling can have a lot of benefits. Because the process triggers your body’s collagen production, these healthy new cells give a rejuvenated, youthful appearance to the skin while your skin’s underlying collagen matrix is enhanced. WHAT HAPPENS DURING SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING?
The procedure begins with a thorough cleanse of your skin and some careful planning so that your treatment will be tailored to you and your concerns. Then, the SkinPen device is applied to the skin where it creates micro-channels. A serum with active ingredients to suit your skincare goals can be applied as well so that it can easily penetrate the skin using the micro-channels. Once the whole area is treated, the skin is soothed, and you can return home.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Immediately after a SkinPen procedure, you can expect some slight swelling and redness, similar to a sunburn. However, this usually lasts for only a day or two. We require you to use only the products supplied by our office for the first 24 hours and then you can begin using your sunscreen and other skincare products.
Most patients begin to see improvement in their skin at one week after their first treatment. Although our skincare specialists can recommend the right treatment package for you, the general recommendation is a series of three to six treatments spaced one month or more apart. This gives your skin plenty of time to recover between treatments so you can maximize your results.
