Dr. David Gilpin is a native of Nashville, TN. After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Dr. Gilpin pursued his M.D. from The University of Tennessee College of Medicine. After considering multiple medical specialties, Dr. Gilpin discovered his passion for the head and neck. He furthered his training through a five-year surgery residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Post-residency, Dr. Gilpin was hand-selected for fellowship training at Tulane University with one of the world’s leading experts in facial plastic surgery, Dr. Calvin Johnson. Dr. Johnson was a pioneer of rhinoplasty and many other cosmetic procedures in the field, and this training honed Dr. Gilpin’s training in cosmetic surgery of the nose, eyelids, face, ears, neck, and related structures.

Gilpin Facial Plastics specializes in surgical treatment of the nose, aging face and neck including brow lifts, upper and lower eyelid surgery, neck lifts, and facelifts. Dr. Gilpin’s gentle bedside manner and beautiful results, make Gilpin Facial Plastics an easy choice for most patients when considering surgery or non-invasive cosmetic procedures. Dr. Gilpin believes that each patient is unique and should receive a customized surgical plan during his or her consultation.

His extensive background in facial reconstructive procedures, including skin cancer removal and traumatic injury, enable him to be a part of helping patients recover from life-altering events.

Dr. Gilpin is dual board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is also fellowship-trained to perform cosmetic procedures.

Dr Gilpin and his staff are the absolute best and I had an incredible experience with them before, during and after my procedure. They are knowledgeable and caring and I am very grateful for my experience with them!

I cannot recommend Dr Gilpin highly enough. He is so extremely knowledgeable and considerate in making the patient comfortable with all decisions and during the procedure. The nurses go above and beyond to make one feel at ease all along the way. The staff is wonderful! The office is beautiful. My results are amazing! Most of all Dr Gilpin is a true kind and professional surgeon!

Everyone at Gilpin Facial is wonderful! From the front desk, to the nurses to Dr. Gilpin himself. When and why did you first become interested in being a plastic surgeon?

I became interested when I started my residency. I really wanted to focus in an area of medicine where I can help make my patients lives better.

What do you like most about your profession?

I like being able to perform a service or procedure, to see almost immediate results and I also like for my patients to be able to see that as well.

If you couldn’t be a plastic surgeon, what would you be?

High School Math Teacher or an Organist

What three words best describe you?

Caring, detail oriented and personable or if you ask the team, the smarty-pants in the front row.
