What Happens During an Endoscopic Brow Lift?

There are options available for anesthetic during an endoscopic brow lift, and Dr. Gilpin will help you select the right one for your comfort level. Many patients can undergo an endoscopic brow lift while comfortably awake. To begin, Dr. Gilpin will create four small and precise entry points through which the endoscope can be inserted. Dr. Gilpin will use the endoscope to carefully lift and rejuvenate the tissues into their natural position with dissolvable sutures. Once the procedure is complete, you can return home.

Endoscopic Brow Lift Results and Recovery

You can expect some swelling, bruising, and minor discomfort after your endoscopic brow lift at our accredited private surgical suite. Our team will send you home with detailed aftercare instructions on how to care for your incisions, minimize swelling, and more. It’s essential to keep your head elevated and avoid blood-thinning medications, exercise, and irritating your incisions. During your follow-up, Dr. Gilpin will determine when you can return to normal activities. Most patients return to work within a week.

Swelling will continue to subside over 1-2 weeks – at this point, your results will begin to emerge. Where Will My Procedure Be Performed?

Dr. Gilpin’s procedures are typically performed at the Cool Springs Surgery Center, which is a fully accredited, state-of-the-art surgical center conveniently located in Nashville. However, Dr. Gilpin can also perform blepharoplasty as an in-office procedure, in most cases.

Will I Be Able to Go Home After My Blepharoplasty Is Complete?

Yes. This procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis. However, you may still be under the effects of anesthesia, so it’s essential to arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home afterward. Many patients also find it helpful to have a friend, family member, or caregiver help them out at home for a day or two after surgery. While you’ll likely be able to handle your daily tasks, having assistance at home will allow you to maximize your recovery time and get the rest your body needs to heal.

Does This Procedure Leave Noticeable Scars?

Dr. Gilpin makes the incisions in areas that are naturally hidden, like the creases of your eyelid. The eyelid skin heals well, so incisions are almost undetectable once fully recovered.

What is Recovery Like for Blepharoplasty?

If you have any questions regarding your recovery, Dr. Gilpin and his staff are happy to address any concerns.nnWhile you might feel fine within a week, you should also avoid strenuous exercise until Dr. Gilpin clears you for rigorous physical activity at your follow-up appointments. His typical follow-up schedule includes an interview the day after your eyelid surgery, then four days, one week, two weeks, six months, and one year.

When Will the Final Results be Visible?

The results of your blepharoplasty appear gradually at first. As swelling subsides, you will notice a smooth, better-defined eyelid and a more alert and rejuvenated appearance. Within two weeks, most of the bruising and swelling should disappear.nnIt’s common for patients to feel anxious during this period, but keep in mind that your swelling is just the body’s natural response to surgery. Once your body takes the time it needs to heal, you’ll soon be able to enjoy your newly refreshed look.

How Long Will the Results Last?

Although you can’t permanently stop the aging process, the results from your eyelid surgery will be long-lasting, especially when you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
