Endoscopic Brow Lift

IN NASHVILLE, TN

One thing that turns patients away from plastic surgery is the idea that it requires significant downtime or causes visible scarring. It’s normal to want to avoid looking like you’ve had something done or taking time off to recover from surgery. If you want the rejuvenating results of a brow lift but without visible incisions or extensive downtime, the endoscopic brow lift is an exciting new option.

The endoscopic brow lift is an advanced brow lift technique that uses an endoscope, or a small surgical instrument and live feed camera, to lift and tighten the brow. Traditionally, the brow lift uses a larger “open” incision along the hairline, leading to longer recovery because of the greater impact on the surrounding tissues. The endoscopic brow lift uses virtually undetectable entry points to rejuvenate the brow for a younger, more refreshed look.

How Do I Know When I’m Ready for an Endoscopic Brow Lift?

The endoscopic brow lift is one of the most transformative options for aging signs in the upper face. If you identify with the following, you may benefit from an endoscopic brow lift:

  • You feel that you look angry or tired when in a resting state
  • You have hooded brows or need to hold your brows up to put on makeup
  • You have deep lines or furrows on your brow
  • You’ve tried Botox but no longer see the results you want

The lateral brow lift is another option for many patients but the most important consideration for choosing between them is the degree of hooding in the center of the brow. An endoscopic brow lift can rejuvenate the whole brow, lifting it to a more upright position and getting rid of heaviness. For some patients, a lateral brow lift (or mini brow lift) is enough to achieve rejuvenating results. Ultimately, Dr. Gilpin can determine the best surgical approach for your needs. He can also recommend whether your brow lift should be combined with surgical options like upper blepharoplasty or the facelift, as well as non-surgical options like Botox.

What Happens During an Endoscopic Brow Lift?

There are options available for anesthetic during an endoscopic brow lift, and Dr. Gilpin will help you select the right one for your comfort level. Many patients can undergo an endoscopic brow lift while comfortably awake. To begin, Dr. Gilpin will create four small and precise entry points through which the endoscope can be inserted. Dr. Gilpin will use the endoscope to carefully lift and rejuvenate the tissues into their natural position with dissolvable sutures. Once the procedure is complete, you can return home.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where Will My Procedure Be Performed?

Dr. Gilpin’s procedures are typically performed at the Cool Springs Surgery Center, which is a fully accredited, state-of-the-art surgical center conveniently located in Nashville. However, Dr. Gilpin can also perform blepharoplasty as an in-office procedure, in most cases.

Will I Be Able to Go Home After My Blepharoplasty Is Complete?

Yes. This procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis. However, you may still be under the effects of anesthesia, so it’s essential to arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home afterward. Many patients also find it helpful to have a friend, family member, or caregiver help them out at home for a day or two after surgery. While you’ll likely be able to handle your daily tasks, having assistance at home will allow you to maximize your recovery time and get the rest your body needs to heal.

Does This Procedure Leave Noticeable Scars?

Dr. Gilpin makes the incisions in areas that are naturally hidden, like the creases of your eyelid. The eyelid skin heals well, so incisions are almost undetectable once fully recovered.

What is Recovery Like for Blepharoplasty?

Dr. Gilpin’s meticulous surgical technique results in less bruising and swelling after blepharoplasty. Most patients only experience minimal pain and discomfort during their recovery, and many can resume work and normal activities about one week after the procedure.nnSlight swelling and bruising may persist for up to a week or two, but cold compresses help reduce these side effects. Prescription pain medication can usually alleviate discomfort. During your recovery, it’s important to be gentle when washing your face; Dr. Gilpin will provide you with instructions on how to properly care for your incisions. If you have any questions regarding your recovery, Dr. Gilpin and his staff are happy to address any concerns.nnWhile you might feel fine within a week, you should also avoid strenuous exercise until Dr. Gilpin clears you for rigorous physical activity at your follow-up appointments. His typical follow-up schedule includes an interview the day after your eyelid surgery, then four days, one week, two weeks, six months, and one year.

When Will the Final Results be Visible?

The results of your blepharoplasty appear gradually at first. As swelling subsides, you will notice a smooth, better-defined eyelid and a more alert and rejuvenated appearance. Within two weeks, most of the bruising and swelling should disappear.nnIt’s common for patients to feel anxious during this period, but keep in mind that your swelling is just the body’s natural response to surgery. Once your body takes the time it needs to heal, you’ll soon be able to enjoy your newly refreshed look.

How Long Will the Results Last?

Although you can’t permanently stop the aging process, the results from your eyelid surgery will be long-lasting, especially when you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
