How Does Botox Work?
As we age, our skin creases and forms lasting wrinkles on our faces. To combat this, Botox temporarily relaxes those facial muscles that cause wrinkles. This is made possible because the active ingredient (botulinum toxin Type A) targets the nervous system and blocks muscle signals. Therefore, Botox can reduce the look of existing wrinkles as well as prohibit their formation in the future. This solution is temporary, so it’s important to visit your injector for regular touchups to maintain your results.
What Can Botox Treat?
Botox is most commonly used to reduce the look of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. Who is a Candidate for Botox?
If you’re looking to combat physical signs of aging, especially those in the form of fine lines and wrinkles, you may be a good candidate for Botox. Botox can be beneficial for patients of all ages – older patients can use it to relax wrinkles and lines, while younger patients can use it to prevent them altogether. Because there are so many uses of Botox, it’s best to consult a knowledgeable injector to determine if Botox can achieve your goals.
What Areas Should I Treat?
The areas you treat with Botox will depend on the results you’re looking for and where your problem areas are. More specifically, Botox works on dynamic wrinkles or lines that appear when making facial expressions.
