Meet Our Team

The more we age, the more we notice how prominent wrinkles become on our faces. These wrinkles begin to become deep-set due to the way our muscles contract and move as we express ourselves. This can be frustrating and impact the way we feel about ourselves. While this is an unfortunate side effect of aging, there are solutions for it. Botox is a product that can be injected into your skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on your face. At Gilpin Facial Plastics & Aesthetics, we offer natural-looking results with Botox and our other injectable treatments.

What is Botox?

Botox is an FDA-approved treatment designed to temporarily lessen the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. This treatment creates stunning results that appear within just 3-5 days. The maximum results will be apparent at around two weeks, but the effects can last for up to three months. It is safe, comfortable, and easily customizable to treat your needs. Dr. David Gilpin and our team perform Botox treatments regularly with stunning results and can help you explore whether Botox can help achieve your cosmetic goals.

How Does Botox Work?

As we age, our skin creases and forms lasting wrinkles on our faces. To combat this, Botox temporarily relaxes those facial muscles that cause wrinkles. This is made possible because the active ingredient (botulinumtoxin Type A) targets the nervous system and blocks muscle signals. Therefore, Botox can reduce the look of existing wrinkles as well as prohibit their formation in the future. This solution is temporary, so it’s important to visit your injector for regular touchups to maintain your results.

What Can Botox Treat?

Botox is most commonly used to reduce the look of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. It can also be used to raise the eyebrows, correct “bunny lines” on the nose, soften lip lines, raise a downturned mouth crease, correct rippling of the chin, slim the jaw, reduce oil production in the skin, and relax the vertical central muscle bands of the neck, among many other things. There are a wide variety of uses for Botox, and our experienced injectors are extremely knowledgeable about achieving excellent results with Botox.

Who is a Candidate for Botox?

If you’re looking to combat physical signs of aging, especially those in the form of fine lines and wrinkles, you may be a good candidate for Botox. Botox can be beneficial for patients of all ages – older patients can use it to relax wrinkles and lines while younger patients can use it to prevent them altogether. Because there are so many uses of Botox, it’s best to consult a knowledgeable injector to determine if Botox can achieve your goals.

What Sets Botox Apart?

Although there are Botox alternatives available, the Botox brand is widely known as the most reliable and time-tested cosmetic product on the market. In fact, Botox treatments are the most popular cosmetic treatment performed each year. If you want to begin exploring cosmetic injectables, Botox is one of the most well-known names and is a great place to start.

Side Effects of Botox

Our providers are highly experienced in conducting this procedure and will ensure you get the most natural-looking results possible. Some of the common side effects are bruising, minor swelling, and possible headache. Additionally, this procedure takes very little time to complete.

The treatment is quick and easy, giving patients the ability to immediately resume their daily activities once it’s complete. It is important to remember that Botox® is a temporary solution, so to get the best results, most treatments are done every three months based on your individual needs.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does Botox last?

Botox typically lasts between 3-4 months depending on your regular activity levels. We recommend patients stick to a consistent treatment regimen to fully reap the benefits of Botox.

What are common areas to treat with Botox?

Our nurse injectors can treat a variety of areas, including glabella (“11s” or between the brows), crow’s feet, and forehead. Other areas include the “lip flip” to create a subtle pucker, the masseter muscle, and Platysmal bands.

When will I see results with my Botox treatment?

Most clients begin seeing Botox treatment results within 5 to 10 days, with full effects at the 2-week mark.

Is one brand or product better than Botox?

Botox Cosmetic is the most popular neurotoxin worldwide. We encourage you to schedule a skin analysis with one of our Expert Medical Injectors so you may determine the treatment that works best for you.

Is it possible to get Botox the day before or the same day as a big event?

Yes, Botox has no significant downtime other than a few possible marks at the injection site (these generally resolve within a few hours). If you are concerned about looking your best before a big event, you may consider scheduling treatment about two weeks in advance for your optimal full treatment effects.

What is the typical recovery time for Botox?

You should be able to resume your normal activities just after receiving Botox treatments. We simply recommended you avoid laying down for 4 hours after treatment and avoid high-impact or strenuous activities (like working out) for 24 hours.

Does it hurt to get Botox?

Patients describe Botox injections as a little “snap” or “pinch” at the injection site. While some patients are more sensitive than others, nearly all our patients tolerate the treatment well.

How does Botox get rid of wrinkles?

Botox relaxes the movement of the facial muscles that create wrinkles and lines on the face. Botox treatments work by blocking the uptake of acetylcholine by the muscles of the face. Through this process, facial wrinkles soften and may, in some cases, be eliminated entirely.

Can I get Botox done the same day as another injectable procedure?

Yes, you can receive Botox the same day you receive other injectable treatments. There is no contraindication to receiving multiple treatments to the face on the same day.

What happens if Im not happy with the results?

CARE Plastic Surgery is focused on your results. If you ever need an adjustment after your Botox treatment, CARE will gladly offer a complimentary correction up to two weeks after your procedure.

What are some sides effects of having Botox injects in your face region?

Common side effects may include temporary headaches, minor swelling or bleeding at the injection site, and/or bruising. These side effects are often minor in severity and typically self-resolve fairly quickly. We encourage our patients to avoid blood-thinning agents, such as NSAIDs or alcohol consumption, before treatment to minimize any bleeding or bruising.

Is Botox safe to use on your face?

Botox is FDA-approved for the glabella region, crow’s feet, and forehead. There are countless clinical studies available ensuring the safety and efficacy of Botox for the prevention of wrinkles.

Does Botox work for sagging eyebrows?

With the appropriate dosage and treatment plan, Botox can serve to open and brighten the eyes. This allows patients to achieve a refreshed appearance.

Will my face look unnatural?

One of the understated beauties of Botox is that oftentimes, others cannot tell you had it! At CARE Plastic Surgery, we pride ourselves on a natural aesthetic that enhances your natural beauty!

How much will I need?

Our injectors will recommend appropriate dosages for the areas you wish to treat. Common dosages include 10-15 units for the forehead, 20-25 units for the glabella region, and 15-20 units for crow’s feet. However, some patients may require more or less depending on the frequency of treatment and the strength of the muscle. Ultimately, our highly-skilled providers will consult with you to develop the best treatment plan for you and your aesthetic goals.

Whats the difference between Botox® and fillers?

Botox is a neuromodulator that works to relax muscles to prevent wrinkling of the skin. Botox serves to be a preventative treatment before dynamic, or moving, wrinkles become static, or fixed. Fillers primarily serve to restore volume loss due to aging and/or genetics. Fillers can be used to augment and enhance lips, as well. Juvederm fillers are comprised of hyaluronic acid (found in our own bodies) and typically last anywhere between 12-24 months.

What is the difference between botox and other neuromodulators like Dysport and Xeomin?

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin all serve as injectable neuromodulators to eliminate and soften the appearance of facial expression lines. At CARE, we consider Botox the gold-standard neuromodulator injection. The Dysport formula is more diluted than Botox, requiring a higher dosage to achieve the same results as Botox. At CARE, we are outcome-focused for our patients, striving to provide our patients with the best results possible. We find that Botox is predictable with both effective and lasting results.
