How Does Dysport Work?
Dysport’s active ingredient is botulinumtoxin, a bacterium that binds to the nerve receptors in the muscles and weakens movements. This is especially beneficial to anti-aging because certain types of wrinkles can be caused by repeated muscle movements (most notoriously around the eyes and brow). By relaxing the underlying muscles, Dysport can prevent or smooth fine lines and creases that appear when you express, while still allowing for your natural and unique facial expressions.

Who is a Candidate for Dysport?
Dysport is a great option for patients looking for a reliable anti-aging treatment. We recommend it as a way to prevent wrinkles or refresh your look if you need fast results. Although Dysport is very similar to other neuromodulators like Botox, some factors make Dysport a better option for certain patients. Patients who should avoid Dysport include those who have allergies to cow’s milk protein, which is used as a stabilizing agent in Dysport.
What Sets Dysport Apart?
Dysport is very similar to Botox but, in general, it can produce results faster. Most patients begin to see results from Dysport within about two days. Additionally, Dysport can last around four months or slightly longer than other neuromodulators. Finally, Dysport simply works better for some patients after they have tried alternatives like Botox or Xeomin.
Side Effects of Dysport
As with any injectable treatment, you may have some minor redness and swelling at your injection sites for the first few hours after treatment. Although you can return to your normal schedule. You should also avoid exercise and hot environments like saunas or hot tubs. Most patients begin to see results from Dysport within 2-3 days but it can take 2 weeks for the product to fully take hold. Dysport can last for 3-4 months, at which point you can return for a touch-up.
