Your Ultimate Guide to Skincare in Your 30s
Posted February 18, 2020 in Skin Care
Skincare in your thirties presents unique challenges. Your skin’s texture and type have probably changed and you are starting to see the signs of aging and sun damage. This means that your skin is in a stage where you need to both prevent further damage and treat problems as they arise.
The following tips will keep your skin in top shape throughout your thirties and make you look younger in the years to come.
1. Cleanse Your Skin
Makeup removing towelettes can’t break down your makeup like cleansing oils. Cleansing oils won’t strip your skin of moisture, which is important as you age. It is best to use a two-step process to thoroughly clean your skin. First, apply a cleansing oil and allow it to sit on your skin before wiping away. This will allow it to break up makeup and remove makeup and dirt more effectively. Next, follow it with a deep and gentle face wash and you’re good to go. Along with these steps, using an exfoliator a couple of times a week is good to get rid of impurities and clean the pores.
2. Day and Night Moisturizers
Get into the routine of using separate daytime and nighttime moisturizers. A daytime moisturizer will protect your skin from sun damage while a nighttime moisturizer deeply moisturizes and repairs the skin overnight while your immune system works to repair your cells.
A day moisturizer is lighter and makes the skin less oily under makeup, while a nighttime moisturizer is heavier and more nourishing. Both of which are important to prevent and repair skin damage.
3. Nourish Your Skin
Use a serum that contains vitamins C and E on your skin. This step will give your skin a brighter, smoother appearance and will help even out your skin tone. If you want that natural glow, this is the way to achieve it. Be sure to avoid serums that contain fragrance and essential oils as these can irritate your skin.
4. Prevent Further Damage
If you aren’t using sunscreen daily, now is the time to start. Consider using a sunscreen that has a higher SPF (50 or higher). This will prevent additional sun damage and wrinkles as you age.
5. Treat Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Finally, it is never too early to treat the signs of aging. Be sure to use retinol products in your skincare routine. Retinol penetrates deep into the skin to repair skin cells and increase collagen production. This helps to plump skin and keep it healthy.
