Who’s a Candidate for the MADE Facelift?

Posted February 08, 2023 in Facelift

Learning more about the facelift is one of the best ways to know what to expect from your consultation with your double board-certified facial plastic surgeon. However, it can be confusing to learn that there are many different types of facelifts. If you’re curious which one is best for your needs, then Dr. Gilpin can help. Dr. Gilpin is Nashville’s most trained and specialized facelift surgeon and can help you explore your best options during a consultation. Here’s what to know about the MADE facelift and whether it’s right for your goals.

What is a MADE Facelift?

“MADE” stands for “minimal access deep plan extended.” The goal of the MADE facelift is to lift and reposition the fat pads of the midface through the incision used in a short scar (or mini) facelift. Lifting and restoring the fat pads of the midface can have a variety of benefits – it can restore the deep tissues of the face to their youthful, natural position so you maintain your unique facial characteristics. Additionally, lifting the fat pads also lifts the jowls and jawline for better definition throughout the whole mid and lower face. The overall result of the MADE facelift is a younger, more refreshed version of yourself but without extensive incisions or “pulling” the skin.

What’s the Difference Between a MADE Facelift and Deep Plane Facelift?

The deep plane facelift is another facelift alternative that can produce significant, transformative results. It’s similar to the MADE facelift in that it lifts and restores the deeper tissues of the face – however, it involves the deep plane, a layer which exists below the layer of muscles and fibrous tissues called the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, or SMAS. The deep plane facelift is one of the most extensive facial procedures available while the MADE facelift is more superficial (but still more transformative than the traditional facelift).

Who is a Candidate for a MADE Facelift?

The best candidates for the MADE facelift are patients who have signs of sagging in the lower face like nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jowls, or neck laxity. It’s important to have good skin quality and be in overall good health when considering facial rejuvenation. Most people who undergo the MADE facelift have already undergone a mini facelift or non-surgical facial treatments and are looking for more substantial results.

During a consultation with Dr. Gilpin, you’ll discuss your goals and whether the MADE facelift is the best option. There are a variety of facelift options available, and our team can help you put together a treatment package to sustain and support your facial rejuvenation results.
