What is Sciton Hero BBL?

Sciton BBL Hero is a powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) technology. It uses broadband light (BBL) to produce gentle heat and stimulate the skin to produce collagen. This process eventually produces firmer, more youthful skin and reduces a variety of skin concerns like:

• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Skin laxity
• Uneven skin tone
• Scarring (including acne scars)
• Sun damage
• Acne
• Redness and brown spots
• Visible veins

What is MOXI?

MOXI is also a non-ablative laser similar to Hero BBL but is much gentler and safe for virtually any skin type. Because it treats only a fraction of the skin, it comes with no downtime and can be used at any time of the year. It also stimulates collagen to reduce skin concerns like:

• Uneven pigmentation
• Texture
• Uneven tone
• Wrinkles and fine lines
• Minor sun damage

What’s the Difference Between Sciton BBL and MOXI?

MOXI and Hero BBL differ in their wavelengths. For example, MOXI uses a 1310nm (nanometer) wavelength versus Hero BBL’s 1550 nm which is closer to natural sunlight. So, they’re very similar in their mechanisms, but MOXI is a much gentler laser. This can have benefits depending on what sort of improvements you’re looking for. Generally, Sciton BBL is a more effective option for reversing moderate, set-in skin concerns while MOXI is best for “pre-juvenation” and reversing mild signs of aging and sun damage.

Which is Best for Me?

There are many different factors that can make one option better for you than the other, like age, skin concerns, and time of year. However, it can be helpful to consider the benefits of each when selecting your treatment. While MOXI comes with no downtime and can be used year-round, Hero BBL can produce more drastic results in fewer treatments. Keep in mind that you may benefit from a combination of both treatments for best results.
