When it comes to rejuvenating your skin and achieving a clear, bright complexion, few options are more effective than fractionated laser skin resurfacing. One exciting new option for this highly satisfying type of treatment is manufactured by Sciton,® a global leader in laser treatments. This procedure is MOXI™, a gentle laser platform designed with everyone’s skin in mind.
WHAT IS MOXI?
MOXI is a non-ablative, fractionated laser technology that helps enhance skin’s appearance mostly by correcting uneven skin tone. Non-ablative lasers work by generating gentle heat and microwounds in the skin to stimulate the production of new collagen and contract existing tissues.
Fractionated lasers affect only a fraction of the skin via tiny channels that reach deep into the skin. When combined together, these types of lasers can produce powerful effects when it comes to reducing pigmentation, texture, or early signs of aging. Additionally, this approach comes with very little downtime and is gentle enough for virtually any skin type. With a single treatment, it can promote new cell growth and reduce skin imperfections without being harsh or requiring downtime. This is different than more aggressive laser treatments that physically remove layers of skin cells, leading to sensitivity, downtime, and peeling that can be uncomfortable although effective.
Moxi utilizes three specific steps designed to:
- Prevent and Refresh
- Revitalize and Maintain
- Transform and Renew
It can even be combined with Sciton’s BBL® platform for even more complete treatment at every skin layer. In fact, MOXI is part of Sciton’s JOULE dual-wavelength non-ablative laser platform. Our non-surgical experts can also recommend our best treatment options and skincare products to maintain your results.
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MOXI?
MOXI is an excellent option for any patient looking to prevent signs of aging, reduce pigmentation, laxity, and texture, and achieve healthier, glowing skin. It’s extremely gentle and can be performed in a quick, 30-minute treatment session at our Nashville office. Additionally, MOXI is not limited by the time of year like some other laser treatment options, and it’s safe for treating all skin types, from dark to light, for multiple concerns. If you’re looking for a low-risk way to tackle skin concerns or want to include a rejuvenating medical-grade treatment into your regular skincare regimen, then MOXI is for you.
Moxi is not intended to be a complete rejuvenation procedure but rather a way for younger patients to experience prejuvenation. Prejuvenation is prevention and enhancement at the same time, creating improvements in skin texture throughout the treated skin cells while not necessarily providing the intense rejuvenation people with aging skin might need.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING MOXI TREATMENT?
MOXI treatment is quick and easy with the help of our experienced laser technicians. During treatment, the specialized handpiece generates tiny zones of micro-coagulation in the skin, prompting your body to generate new collagen and healthy skin cells to repair the damaged areas. As your skin regenerates, you’ll see noticeable improvement in your skin’s tone, texture, and clarity. Your treatment session can be performed in about 30 minutes, and you can return to your normal schedule directly after.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
After your treatment session, it’s normal to have minor redness and sensitivity, similar to a sunburn. You may notice tiny textured dots on your skin where the laser energy was applied, but these will slough off within a few days. The result will be smoother, brighter skin within a few weeks. Although many patients achieve excellent results with a single treatment, you can undergo a package of regular treatments (about 3-4) to fully address your concerns or to maintain your transformative results.
