It can be hard to feel confident when your lips are thinner than you’d like. It can also be difficult to enjoy your favorite lip colors or feel sexy in intimate situations. Although many people think of fillers or implants when it comes to enhancing the lips, there are even quicker and easier alternatives that can produce naturally stunning results. One option is the Botox® lip flip, and it only involves a few simple injections by a board-certified facial cosmetic surgeon or trained nurse injector. If you’re considering ways to boost your confidence and achieve a fuller, more balanced look for your lips, then here’s how Gilpin Facial Plastics can help.
What is Botox®?
Botox® is made with a bacteria called botulinumtoxin type A. When injected into a muscle, it’s very effective at blocking chemical signals from the brain and preventing movement. It has been in use as a medical treatment for decades but is most popular as a cosmetic anti-aging treatment. Additionally, it can be used as a lip enhancement technique.
Botox® is not a long-term treatment and requires touch-up every 3-4 months. However, many patients rely on it as a cosmetic treatment for concerns like wrinkles, furrows, sagging, or even dull skin.
How Does a Lip Flip Work?
It’s important to keep in mind that Botox® is not the same as dermal fillers like Juvéderm® or Restylane®. This means a lip flip does not work by filling the lips with product. Rather, it works by injecting small amounts of Botox® into the muscles above the lip. This process causes it to relax and pull the lip upward, revealing more of the pink area of the lip. The result is a more pronounced, poutier look with better balance between the upper and lower lips.
Should I Get a Lip Flip or Fillers?
Both treatment options are a great way to achieve your lip goals, but through different means. If you’ve never had cosmetic treatments before, then a lip flip with Botox® can be a much more accessible way to achieve your goals. That’s because the results fade within 3-4 months, meaning there’s less commitment if you don’t like your results. Fillers, on the other hand, can be more noticeable when injected by an inexperienced practitioner and last for up to 2 years, depending on the product. The Botox® lip flip can be a great starter treatment for exploring your cosmetic goals and boosting your confidence for a lower cost, lower commitment, and lower risk.
