Juvéderm is one of the most popular injectable treatments available. With several formulas within the Juvéderm family, Juvéderm is a good treatment option for patients seeking to address many aging signs. In addition, injectables like Juvéderm require no downtime, making them a suitable treatment option for busier patients. Gilpin Facial Aesthetics is a Silver Level Allergen Partner, meaning that we only use FDA-approved injectables, like Juvéderm, which are purchased directly from the manufacturer and offer high-quality injectable treatment with excellent results for our patients.
What is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler. There are several formulas of Juvéderm available for a variety of purposes and areas of the face. Primarily, Juvéderm is used to address signs of aging in the face, but it can also be used to non-surgically augment areas such as the lips. All Juvederm products have a smooth gel consistency and contain a small amount of lidocaine so that the injections are comfortable.
Juvéderm for Wrinkles and Fine Lines
Juvéderm XC and Juvéderm Vollure XC are both formulas designed to smooth wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth and nose, including nasolabial folds, smile lines, and marionette lines. By adding some volume below the line, Dr. Gilpin can essentially “fill in” the wrinkle, creating a smoother texture and more youthful appearance.
Juvéderm for Volume Loss
Volume loss naturally occurs as part of the aging process, which leads to sagging skin and is especially noticeable in the cheeks. Juvéderm Voluma XC can be used to restore this lost volume, giving a lifted and youthful appearance. This can also help to reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds.
Juvéderm for Lip Augmentation
Juvéderm Volbella XC and Juvéderm Ultra XC can both be used to non-surgically augment the lips, creating a fuller appearance as well as an aesthetically pleasing and symmetrical shape. Patients can also use these types of Juvéderm to reduce the appearance of perioral lines, also known as “lipstick lines” or “smoker’s lines.”
How Long Does Juvéderm last?
Juvéderm results are not permanent, because the product is naturally broken down by the body over time. The longevity of your Juvéderm results will depend on the area you are treating, the specific product chosen for your treatment, and your own metabolism among other factors. Juvéderm typically lasts between six months and two years. When your results begin to subside, you can receive maintenance injections if you choose.
Who is a Good Candidate for Juvéderm?
Most patients who have signs of aging due to decreased elasticity or volume loss make good candidates for Juvéderm. Before receiving injections, you should be in good overall health. You should not take blood-thinning medications including aspririn, ibuprofen, or St. John’s wort or consume alcohol before receiving Juvéderm injections. Dr. Gilpin will evaluate the area you wish to treat and your overall health before your injections to ensure that you are a good candidate for Juvéderm.
